King & Tuckfield

Established by creative director Stacey Wood in 2016, King & Tuckfield has been quietly taking time to build a meaningful contemporary brand based on provenance and integrity. Stacey is the beating heart of the label which she named after her grand parents.

Captivated by the sartorial grace and personal integrity of her grandmother Joan King, a ballerina hailing from East London, and her grandfather, Graham Tuckfield, a tailor, paratrooper and miner from Yorkshire, Stacey named her label after the inspirational couple. Looking to treasured family albums, Stacey’s collections capture a harmonious amalgam of sculptural beauty and strength, manifested in meaningful and high-quality everyday clothes.

SUPporting rich storytelling with Shopify 2.0

Having created their first Shopify e-commerce store in 2018β€”replatformed from the brand’s original self-built Squarespace siteβ€”King & Tuckfield again turned to Not Studio when the time came to upgrade the design and functionality of their site. We naturally suggested a Shopify 2.0 build which would give the small label a huge amount of flexibility around rich content, storytelling and the ability to add a deeper level of brand and product information throughout the site, including details on product materials & care, and dynamically editorial seasonal lookbook pages.

From inspiration to inception, the nurturing attributes associated with family inform the backbone of the King & Tuckfield design process. The brand is uncompromising in sourcing regenerative materials as well as working with responsible manufacturers; a level of attention to detail which needed to be communicated at every stage of the end-user’s e-commerce journey.

crafting a truly global e-commerce experience

The stratospheric growth and development of the brand since our first collaboration five years previously meant we had to revisit what we knew about the label, their offering, and their position within the luxury landscape. In the last half-decade, King & Tuckfield have outgrown their heritage-inspired origins, moving into a space which stays true to these roots but incorporates a more international, gender-fluid and flamboyant feel. Their clothing is now regularly seen on the likes of musicians Donald Glover and Justin Bieber, as well as Hollywood A-listers like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

At the same time, Shopify’s functionality has snowballed in much the same direction by adding a game-changing set of internationalisation features. We were able to make full use of this improved functionality for the new store build.

a fluid, playful and inventive approach to filmmaking

Alongside the e-commerce refresh, we worked closely with King & Tuckfield to develop a series of seasonal campaign assets. From conception to delivery, we leveraged a fluid, playful and inventive approach to filmmaking, allowing us to create impactful branded content films in tandem with capturing campaign photography.

Bringing together the brand’s directional styling and elevated, whimsical feel, our campaigns aim to blend a sense of story and history with a uniquely British point of view, and a luxury, international quality, connecting past, present and future in a way that speaks to the brand’s familial origins and progressive ideals.
